[Hong Kong] Best New Restaurant Takeout and Delivery Options

Many restaurants in Hong Kong are now offering new takeout and delivery menus for those who wish to stay at home and practice social distancing. It's more important than ever to support your local restaurants and if you're not comfortable dining out, you can order takeout and delivery to spruce up your meals at home. Here's a roundup of the best options out there and I'll keep updating this list as I come across more:

1) 22 Ships

Treat yourself! 22 Ships has recently reopened with a new menu and new chef Antonio Oviedo, and its Basque Burnt Cheesecake is probably the best version in HK! Two sizes are available - the smaller one is for 1-2 pax (HK$98) and the one shown here is for 6-8 pax (HK$588).

2) MONO / JIA Everywhere

MONO has created STEREO by MONO - a series of Latin American and French inspired set menus to be shared between 3-4 people. I tried a Latin American menu with an amazingly flavorful South American Style Whole Roasted Chicken which also came with sides such as arepas with confit carabinero & avocado, steamed manioc & chimichurri, Chef Ricardo's signature mole sauce, and some delicious alfajor with dulce de leche to finish off.

MONO is part of JIA Group which just launched a new catering and delivery service JIA Everywhere covering all restaurants under its group including Duddell's, Louise, Chachawan and more. You can also add on beverages such as cocktails, champagnes and wines with your order as well. Available for pick up and delivery (free delivery on HK Island with minimum spend of HK$800).

3) Ando

Also part of JIA Group, Ando by Chef Agustin Balbi has just opened last month! I had the catering set which starts from 2 people, and the portions were quite generous. It was almost like a dream come true to have my favorite Caldoso rice with abalone and chorizo at home! The menu was autographed by the entire team and contained detailed instructions for heating up the food. Also included are some homemade granola sunflower seed, sesame, oats, and local honey to be eaten as breakfast the following day.

4) Tate Dining Room

This may be the most dreamy fine dining takeaway packaging and I expected nothing less from 1* Tate by Chef Vicky Lau! The Gastronomy Gourmet Box is thoughtfully designed with a zero waste approach where the reusable packaging can be returned to the restaurant. Limited quantity of only 30 per day!
