[Hong Kong] Beefbar - Premium Steakhouse from Monaco

Rating: ❤❤❤❤1/2

Brought to us from Monaco, Beefbar is a premium steakhouse that has been generating a lot of buzz lately! With a meat importer as its founder, the international chain is known for its high quality of beef and rare beef cuts from around the world. Located on the 2/F in Club Lusitano, the decor of the restaurant is refined and sophisticated with white marble tabletops and monochrome colors throughout. I decided to come here for lunch to see if the the food here is as good as everyone says where the lunch sets range from $270-$330 for 2 courses and $340-$400 for 3 courses with choices between soup, salad, main and dessert. Besides the obvious beef mains, I was surprised to also find pasta and seafood mains offered as well.

Slabs of raw beef were on display as a stylish decoration which was befitting for its concept.

We got seated right by the expansive windows which had views of the busy traffic on Ice House Street and enjoyed warm bread with olive oil before our food came.

J and I each ordered a beef main and dessert, and while it took a while for the food to come, good thing it was worth the wait! The Classic Beef Tartare ($290) was a delight on the taste buds with finely chopped raw beef, diced onions and spicy mustard sauce. For the lunch set, the tartare came with a side of thick crispy french fries and premium ketchup.

The Wagyu Steak ($330) with caramelized shallots was juicy and succulent as it was cooked perfectly as medium rare while the accompanying mashed potato was silky smooth and creamy! The portions were just a bit small though for the price with only 4 pieces of beef.

Not only were the beef dishes good here, the desserts were also superb! The Yogurt Panna Cotta came off as a bit plain but the Almond & Orange Sorbet was delightfully rich with a super smooth consistency.

The Floating Island with torched meringue floating on a coffee and chocolate custard sauce was sinfully rich and delectable to eat for those with a sweet tooth! The chocolate bits and hazelnuts were nice additions to this classic French dessert as well.

Verdict - even though prices can be on the high side, I believe that it is fair for its location in Central and its excellent quality of beef and food along with its fine dining service. I will definitely have to visit again at night to try more different cuts of beef at Beefbar!
