[Hong Kong] La Crêperie - New Weekday Lunch Menu

Rating: ❤❤❤❤

La Crêperie is an old favorite of mine as I've been coming here for its Breton crepes and galettes ever since I came back to Hong Kong a few years ago. My first visit was to its original branch in Wan Chai, and since then a second branch opened in Sheung Wan followed by a third at L Square in Causeway Bay which is where I went to check out its new weekday set lunch menu with J! A choice of 10 Breton main courses ranging from $88-$138 will be available which includes all-time favorites such as La Complete and La Marin along with new seasonal items like Lobster Pasta and Duck Breast Salad. The lunch set comes with tea or coffee with options to upgrade to apple cider and desserts as well.

I chose one of the new seasonal items - Lobster Salad ($138) which was served with Indonesian lobster tail along with lettuce, asparagus, grapefruit and cherry tomatoes. The salad was a nice healthy alternative to the classic galettes here which tend to be on the heavy side with cheese, ham and egg plus it was still served on top of its signature savory buckwheat galette so you can have the best of both worlds. We both opted for the Apple Cider (+$20) for our drinks where we can choose between sweet (2.4%) or dry (5%), and I preferred the sweet one which was really refreshing to drink.

We also got one of the classics - La Marin ($138) with scallops, bacon, mushrooms and creamy white sauce where the rich creamy flavors went perfectly with the crispy yet chewy galette. The scallops were probably a little under-cooked for me on the inside and I wished it had better caramelization on the outside as well.

The new lunch sets have the option to add a dessert crepe for half of its original price so we couldn't help but get two to share! The Crepe Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce ($30) was served with Movenpick ice cream, and the crepe was really rich and sweet especially with the thick chocolate sauce.

The Crepe Apple and Salted Butter Caramel ($30) was more balanced and my favorite of the two with its delicious apple compote and luscious buttery caramel sauce!

Verdict - La Creperie has always been reasonably priced and with its new lunch set menu, it's even more affordable with the flexibility to add on extras as needed.
