[Taiwan: Taipei] 2* Restaurant A by Alain Huang

After 7 years as head chef at the highly acclaimed Raw in Taipei, Chef Alain Huang launched Restaurant A in 2023 which was awarded with 2 Michelin Stars last year. One tasting menu is on offer and included in the price is a beverage pairing of your choice. The cuisine is very much French and accented with Asian influences. Upon entering the restaurant, the striking white space - which looks like an art gallery - leaves an impression. Even the plates are predominantly white, providing a blank canvas for the chef’s creations. The attention to detail throughout the night was great - right up until the end when Chef Alain personally made coffee for the guests. Unfortunately while the dishes were strong on a technical level, I would have liked to see more uniqueness and personality in the flavors.
