[Singapore] 3* Zén by Björn Frantzén
Follow me to Restaurant Zén by Chef Björn Frantzén - the only chef in the world currently with 3 Three Michelin Starred restaurants - Frantzén in Stockholm, Zén in Singapore, and FZN in Dubai! Similar to the flagship Frantzén, Zén offers Nordic cuisine with a touch of Japanese elegance and Asian influence. The dining experience spans across 3 floors in the classic shophouse that used to house Restaurant Andre, starting in the kitchen with a showcase of the day’s ingredients. Similar to Frantzén where guests move to different parts of the restaurant during the meal, I enjoyed an aperitif and a series of amuse bouche here before heading to the dining room on the second floor for the main part of the meal. Highlights included the chawanmushi with grilled abalone and guinea fowl with Sichuan pepper, along with the Frantzen signature onion soup with liquorice and truffle French toast. Lastly, my lunch ended in the living room on the top floor with petit fours and tea. Overall, the food was very solid except for the first couple of amuse bouche which were a bit salty.
