[Hong Kong] Fish School x FeedMe Guru - Exclusive 10 Course Tasting Menu

I went back to Fish School recently to check out its exclusive 10-course tasting menu with FeedMe Guru for the month of October only! A collaboration between restaurateur Yenn Wong and chef David Lai, the restaurant specializes in local fish and seafood as the name suggests. I visited the restaurant when it first opened last year and my biggest criticism back then was the value for money, but the FeedMe Guru tasting menu offers a great deal at only $595 per person for 10 courses and an additional $375 for the optional drinks pairing (yes there's a drink pairing for each course so 10 drinks in total!). You can reserve the special tasting menu here via this link on FeedMe Guru's website.

All of the dishes you see below are sharing portions so although 10 courses may seem a lot, you're actually going to be sharing with at least one other person. It's still a lot of food so you will leave feeling stuffed for sure!

The first course Lobster Popcorn was my favorite dish of the meal with a slightly sweet sauce drizzled on the crispy lobster popcorn. I had the Mantis Shrimp Popcorn here last time and they seemed to have swapped out the mantis shrimp for lobster but I liked them both equally to be honest.

Drink pairing: Preserved Lime Vodka Collins

Octopus with Bamboo Prawn Ceviche
Drink pairing: NV Nino Franco 'Rustico' Prosecco, Veneto, Italy

Heirloom Tomatoes with Housemade Ricotta
Drink pairing: 2014 Rafael Palacios 'Louro' Godello, Valdeorras, Spain

The Marinated Raw Crab with Sea Urchin Rice is a popular signature dish here and a single order already costs $165 so getting the tasting menu is a no-brainer if you plan on trying a lot of dishes.

Drink pairing: Funaguchi Nama Sake

I've always seen sea cucumber with its black skin so it was interesting to see the Grilled Sea Cucumber here in white instead.

Drink pairing: 2013 Les Tourettes Grenache Rose, Provence, France

Crab Meat with Xiaoxing Butter Tagliatelle

Drink pairing: 2014 Oakridge 'Over the Shoulder' Chardonnay, Yarra Valley, France

Sauteed Local Greens with Salted Fish
Drink pairing: Green Screen

I loved the presentation of the Steamed Market Fish Rice but I would have preferred some sort of sauce for flavoring as it was quite bland as is.

Drink pairing: 2013 Palliser Estate 'Pencarrow' Pinot Noir, Martinborough, NZ

Wood Sorrel Sorbet with Java Apple
Drink pairing: 2013 Schloss Lieser Auslese Riesling, Mosel, Germany

We all loved the burnt ice cream in our last dessert Mango with Burnt Coconut Ice Cream and Coffee which was a great way to end our meal!

Drink pairing: Caramel Espresso Martini
